Reading progress update: I've read 140 out of 1088 pages.

The Walking Dead, Compendium 1 - Cliff Rathburn, Charlie Adlard, Tony Moore, Robert Kirkman

Finished the first volume in this colossal read. Since the show is everywhere I probably don't have rehash the plot so I'll give that a miss for this volume.

To be completely honest, I'm not a fan of black and white graphic novels, I love being immersed in stories in all their technicolour glory so in some ways this had a negative mark against it before I started. However, the story is what it's all about and on this point it does an incredible job. Knowing most of what is going to happen from the show there were no surprises for me except that it moved along at a much faster pace and it was really difficult to put this down at the end of the first volume. Characters were set up nicely for coming volumes and as in the show it's all about their survival not the zombies.

Artwise, I'll never be a huge fan of b&w but the detail in the panels was impressive.

Next up, volume 2. :)
